Distribute Lighting Fixtures and Communication/Data  from a Linked/Imported AutoCAD drawing

Adjust the host of the distributed instances.

Useful in distributing lighting fixtures from DiaLux CAD output

Wall-mounted fixtures are not supported

General Usage Instructions

 Option # 1 (by CAD layers)

One Revit family Type will be used for all CAD blocks on the same layer

(Recommended for distribution from DiaLux exported CAD)

Example:

Revit Family Type: “FAMILYTYPE_A” will be distributed in place of the blocks on the CAD layer “LAYER_A” which contains {block_1 and block_2}

… Etc.

Instructions

CAD drawing

 1.     Each block must be in a different layer (different layer for each fixture type)

Revit

1.     Link/Import the CAD drawing

2.     Adjust the position of the CAD drawing in the desired view

3.     Run the add-in

4.     Select the CAD drawing

5.     Pick a family type for each CAD layer (up to 5 layers per each run)

6.     Repeat the previous step as much as necessary

7.     Press ok

 

Option # 2 (By CAD blocks names)

 

One Revit Family Type will be used for each CAD Block of a unique name

Example:

Revit Family Type: “FAMILYTYPE_A” will be distributed in place of the CAD blocks with the name: “BLOCKTYPE_A”

And Revit Family Type: “FAMILYTYPE_B” will be distributed in place of the CAD blocks with the name: “BLOCKTYPE_B” … etc.

 Instructions

1.     Link/Import the CAD drawing

2.     Adjust the position of the CAD drawing in the desired view

3.     Run the add-in

4.     Select the CAD drawing

5.     Pick a family type for each CAD block (up to 5 blocks per each run)

6.     Repeat the previous step as much as necessary

7.     Press ok

Installation/Uninstallation

The installer that ran when you downloaded this app/plug-in from Autodesk App Store will start installing the app/plug-in. OR, simply double-click the downloaded installer to install the app/plugin.

You may need to restart the Autodesk product to activate the app/plug-in.

To uninstall this plug-in, exit the Autodesk product if you are currently running it, simply rerun the installer, and select the "Uninstall" button. OR, click Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features (Windows 7/8.1/10) and uninstall as you would any other application from your system.
