Firenetics® integrates fireproofing early in design. It estimates fireproofing needs, calculates key parameters, and flags elements that may not meet fire ratings.

General Usage Instructions

The diagram illustrates the operational workflow of Firenetics®, a plugin designed to integrate fireproofing compliance into Autodesk® Revit®. It focuses on streamlining the process of identifying and resolving fire safety compliance issues during the early design phases of building construction. Below is the step-by-step breakdown of the workflow:

  • Access Revit Model: The workflow begins by accessing the digital representation of the building structure within the BIM platform Revit. This model serves as the primary data source for fireproofing analysis.
  • Retrieve Structural Elements: The system extracts relevant structural components from the BIM model, such as beams, columns, and walls, that may require fireproofing.
  • Define Target Structural Elements: From the retrieved components, the system identifies "target structural elements" that are subject to fire safety regulations. These elements are analyzed based on their geometry, material properties, and exposure conditions.
  • Access Relevant Fire Rating Information: The plugin retrieves applicable fire rating standards and certifications from Firenetics' advanced centralized compliance database. This ensures alignment with jurisdiction-specific safety regulations.
  • Access Fireproofing Parameters for Target Elements Across Applicable Fire Ratings and Configurations: The system calculates essential fireproofing parameters, including but not limited to dry film thickness (DFT), wet film thickness (WFT), material volumes, and coating layers. These parameters are tailored to the characteristics of each target element.
  • BIM Designer Reviews Fire Rating Parameters on Interface: Designers interact with the FireNetics user interface to review and, if necessary, adjust the fireproofing configurations for the identified structural elements.
  • Check for Problems with Target Elements: If issues such as unrecognized or undefendable elements are identified, the system highlights these for the designer. Designers can modify the BIM model to resolve these issues, such as substituting problematic elements with compliant ones or consulting with fireproofing manufacturers.
  • Generate Reports: Upon the successful resolution of all issues, the system generates detailed compliance and optimization reports. These include fireproofing material requirements, compliance percentages, and cost estimates.

Key Features Highlighted in the Workflow

  • Proactive Issue Identification: The system flags potential compliance issues, such as elements that are unrecognized or fail to meet fireproofing standards.
  • Interactive Adjustments: The designer retains control to manually adjust configurations based on specific project requirements.
  • Seamless Integration with Revit: By embedding the workflow directly into the BIM platform Revit, the plugin enhances efficiency and reduces errors in fireproofing compliance.
  • Compliance Reporting: Detailed reports streamline communication with stakeholders and ensure alignment with fire safety regulations.

This workflow underscores Firenetics’ ability to assist Revit engineers in enhancing early-stage fire safety compliance while optimizing material usage and design efficiency.
