Family Names
Win64, EnglishGeneral Usage Instructions
Family Name is a name management plugin for Revit. Standardization is a process in which a given name is broken into constituent parts. For many collaborative projects, this is a requirement and it’s part of BIM. With just one click you can adjust and check the naming of your families and family types against the rules you have set in place. Any changes you make are immediately available to be synced with Revit.
Family names will allow you to easily change the name of any family by just double-clicking on the name in the loaded table, or you can even handle multiple families at once by the use of features available in the app.
Family names will allow you to save data into an Excel file. You can change the names in this file and then inject your changes back into the application by opening the file from the add-in.

Features
Name Rules – You can define rules that target certain categories (Windows/Doors). These rules represent parts that define what should the name look like. Use these rules to validate the naming process
Wrap Text – With this feature, you can add prefixes or suffixes to the elements in the table (you can choose to apply to all elements, to selected elements, or to elements that did not pass validation)
Find and Replace – Use this feature to change names by replacing certain characters with others. (You can choose to apply to all elements, to selected elements, or to elements that did not pass validation)
Display Parameters - Use this feature to add more information to your names table. You can choose between any parameter that any family has. If you choose a parameter that some families do not have, the information in the row of the family will be left blank.
Compose with Parameters - Use this feature to create a new naming by joining information from family/types parameters (full values or parts of it) with the current name.
Sync – After a change is made in the app sync icon will turn from green to grey meaning that a change was made but the app has not updated Revit yet, and the name has not been synced with Revit. To sync click the update button.
Excel Export/Import Support - You can easily change names in Excel. Export the table in Excel using the Save Xlsx button, make your changes there (you can change only the names column), then import the new names using the Open Xlsx button and the changes will be visible in the app.
