Twinmotion Dynamic Link allows to synchronize instantly the Autodesk® Revit® model with Twinmotion 2019. It also exports the project in FBX if the visualization needs to be done on another computer.

General Usage Instructions

Once the installation process done (see Installation/Uninstallation) you will find it in the Twinmotion Ribbon tab, in your Revit product. By clicking on “See in Twinmotion” you will synchronize the current model with Twinmotion 2019 - Each time you click on “See in Twinmotion” the current model will be synchronized with Twinmotion - Make changes to the model or materials, and see those changes immediately in Twinmotion. - Standard materials, People and Trees are automatically converted in Twinmotion materials, People and Trees By clicking on “Settings”, you can set the parameters used by the Dynamic Link synchronization. Optimize model If you check this box, the 3D mesh loose its definition, but have a good impact on the final model performances. It is the best choice to optimize railings for example. Use Twinmotion materials If checked, the materials included in the standard library of Revit will be replaced in Twinmotion by its own materials. This substitution also work with a selection of RPC Trees and people. If uncheck, the maps used in Revit will be transferred to Twinmotion. Export BIM data If checked, the standard BIM data included in Revit will be transferred to Twinmotion Exclude object smaller than You can choose to not synchronize small objects. If all dimensions (Length, Width, Height) of an object are smaller than the exclude value, this object will be excluded from the synchronization. In the dropdown list Collapse you can choose to collapse all geometries according to several scenarios: - Family: object from the same family will be collapsed into one geometry - Material: objects will be splitted and recomposed by material - None: no geometry will be collapsed By clicking on Export, a panel will open to set the parameters for FBX Export. In the dropdown list Export you can choose which objects to export in the FBX file - Selection: Only selected objects will be exported. - Visible: Only visible objects will be exported. In the dropdown list Texture, you can choose between: - Do not export - Copy to a selected folder: the Revit material’s maps will be saved in a selected file. - Integrated in the saved file: The maps will be included in the .FBX file. In the dropdown list Collapse you can choose to collapse all geometries according to several scenarios: - Family: object from the same family will be collapsed into one geometry - Material: objects will be splitted and recomposed by material - None: no geometry will be collapsed In the dropdown list Mesh you can choose the mesh definition for the exported 3D geometries. It has a big incidence on 3D model performance in twinmotion. - Optimized (for straight forms): the 3D mesh loose its definition, but have a good impact on the final model performances. It is the best choice to optimize railings for example. It has a bad visual impact on curved surfaces - Revit standard: this option corresponds to the standard Revit mesh definition. It has no impact on curved surfaces Export vegetation:

This exports the vegetation as cubes. Once you import the FBX in Twinmotion, you can replace all the cubes with the replace tool in Twinmotion. Include linked file:

Allows you to choose to include all files linked in the Revit file or not at export. Exclude object below (meter):

You can choose to not export small objects. If all dimensions (Length, Width, Height) of an object are smaller than the exclude value, this object will be excluded from the export. Export:

Click on this button to set a directory for the FBX file and process the export. Once the .FBX is created, you have to import it in Twinmotion, like others imported files. You can import this .FBX with the keep hierarchy option in twinmotion, in order to have the same scene organization than in Revit.

Installation/Uninstallation

The installer that ran when you downloaded this app/plug-in from Autodesk App Store will start installing the app/plug-in. OR, simply double-click the downloaded installer to install the app/plugin.

To uninstall this plug-in, exit the Autodesk product if you are currently running it, simply rerun the installer, and select the "Uninstall" button. OR, click Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features (Windows 7/8.1/10) and uninstall as you would any other application from your system.
