PowerCad-M

PowerCad-M

Win64, English

PowerCad Software
Make building your Electrical Autodesk® Revit® Model much simpler. A 2D interface allows you to move panelboards and electrical loads between boards then export the system to excel or a drafting view.

General Usage Instructions

Once installed, a PowerCad-M tab will appear in your ribbon. There are separate icons for each of the main functions of the app.

Electrical planning loads - Creates electrical distribution zones for the building and estimates the electrical load for each zone.

Electrical Distribution Network Browser - opens up a 2D live distribution diagram of the electrical system in the Revit model.

Publishes Single-Line Diagram - Generates a modifiable 2D schematic of your electrical system in a drafting view.

PowerCad-M also provides a link to PowerCad-5 for detailed electrical design, by exporting the panelboards and their connections into PowerCad-5. PowerCad-5 is a separate software package for modeling complex electrical L.V. Distribution Networks.

Commands

Ribbon/Toolbar Icon Command Command Description

Export to Excel

Use the export to excel command to export the details of the electrical panels in your Revit Model to a *.csv file. You can download either the planning loads or the connected loads from the model. Within the export to excel command window you can select which details you want to download and the order that they arranged in within the *.csv file. The download settings you select can be saved outside the model for use in other models.

Publish Drafting View

Generates a 2D schematic of your electrical system in a drafting view. This command creates the drafting view and draws the 3d schematic using a combination of symbol families and lines. Changes to the model after the drafting view is created are not represented. A new drafting view can be simply created by selecting this command.

Licensing

PowerCad-M can be used in trial mode for 14 days. After that period a yearly license needs to be purchased. Licenses can be purchased through the app by selecting this license icon. The licensing window also displays your license status, license key, date of license expiry

Electrical Equipment Summary

Quickly check all the electrical equipment families within your Revit model to ensure they have the correct information to enable them to be connected to electrical system. The check includes Voltage, Number of Phases, Apparent Load, Load Classification etc.

Export to PowerCad-5

This command loads PowerCad-5 and exports the boards and their connections to PowerCad-5 for detailed electrical design. For more info on PowerCad-5 please visit our website www.PowerCad.com.au. Requires PowerCad-5 version 5.0.75.14 or later.

Settings

This command gives you access to the general settings available in PowerCad-M including settings for the 2D schematic and data export.

Electrical Distribution Network

Open up a 2D live distribution diagram of the electrical system in the Revit model. Unconnected Panel boards can be dragged onto the diagram and dropped onto upstream boards to make the connection. The diagram view can be viewed in either skeleton layout or detailed layout. In the detailed layout you can select boards or circuits and modify their properties live in the Properties panel of Revit. Boards and loads can moved using drag and drop modifying their connections in real time.

Electrical Planning Loads

Creates electrical distribution zones for the building and estimates the electrical load for each zone. Spaces are selected and assigned to a electrical distribution zone. Each zone is then assigned an estimate for power and light consumption per unit of area to calculate the total building consumption. These planning loads can then be exported to PowerCad-5.

Installation/Uninstallation

The installer that ran when you downloaded this app/plug-in from Autodesk App Store will start installing the app/plug-in. OR, simply double-click the downloaded installer to install the app/plugin.
