AUTOM8LABS MCP Connector for Revit®

AUTOM8LABS MCP Connector for Revit®

Win64, English

AUTOM8LABS
Give your AI agent tools to set up projects, produce drawings and build model content in Revit. Free inspection tools included. Full workflows require a licence.

General Usage Instructions

GET STARTED

1. Install AUTOM8LABS MCP Connector for Revit from the Autodesk Design and Make Marketplace.

2. Launch Revit and open a project.

3. Open the Add-Ins tab and locate the AUTOM8LABS panel.

4. Click Enable MCP to configure your supported AI app, such as Claude Desktop, ChatGPT desktop or Cursor.

5. Fully quit and restart your AI app. If it runs in the system tray, right-click its icon and select Quit.

6. Start a conversation and describe what you want to inspect or accomplish in Revit.

Keep Revit running while using the connector.

START WITH YOUR MODEL

The free edition lets your AI agent inspect project information, warnings, elements, parameters, levels, grids and rooms. You can also browse views, sheets, schedules and loaded families, work with selection sets and navigate the model.

Try these prompts:

"What warnings does this model have?"

"List the doors on Level 1 and show their type names."

"What are the room areas on Level 2?"

"List the sheets in this project."

ACTIVATE LICENSED WORKFLOWS

Purchase a licence at https://autom8labs.io/products/mcp-connector-revit/ and activate it inside the connector. The same installation supports the licensed tools.

Your AI agent can then set up projects, create and modify model content, produce views and sheets, add dimensions, build families and update model information.

RUN A WORKFLOW

Describe the task and identify the project, elements, views or sheets to use.

Supply any required templates, titleblocks, naming rules, dimensions, parameter mappings or output locations.

Ask your AI agent to explain its proposed actions and clarify missing information before making changes.

Review the resulting model content, drawings and exported files in Revit before saving or issuing them.

Example prompt:

"Create interior elevations for the selected rooms and arrange each room's views on a sheet. Ask me for the view template, titleblock, scale and sheet naming rules, then explain the proposed setup before creating it."

AI ACCOUNTS AND DATA

The connector communicates locally with Revit and returns tool results to your AI app. Your AI app may send that information to its provider for processing, depending on its configuration. Your AI provider's subscription requirements, usage limits and data policies apply.

Additional Information

Known Issues

  • Fully quit and restart your AI app after setup. For system-tray apps, right-click the icon and select Quit.
  • Start Revit before your AI app. If the connection fails, keep Revit open and restart the AI app.
  • Worksharing features, including workset queries, require an active workshared project.
  • Broad searches may be slower on large models. Filter by category, level or view, or set a result limit where available.

Version History

Version Number Version Description

3.6.3

3.6.3 adds room elevation refit: when a room is resized after its interior elevations were placed, one call re-crops every elevation to the new room and sets the view depth to the furthest wall face, leaving sheets and viewports where they are. Preview the change before applying it. Room elevation creation now clips to the furthest wall on L-shaped rooms, and the installed version shows in the connector dialog. 38 free read-only tools work out of the box; a Pro licence (from autom8labs.io) unlocks the full 279-tool set inside Revit with no reinstall - create, modify, annotate, audit, export and coordinate with natural language. Supports Revit® 2022-2027.

3.3.1

v3.3.1 unifies the free and Pro editions into one product. The 37 free read-only tools work out of the box; a Pro licence (from autom8labs.io) unlocks the full 200+ tool set inside Revit with no reinstall - create, modify, annotate, audit, export and coordinate with natural language. Also adds ChatGPT desktop support: the Enable MCP toggle now configures ChatGPT automatically alongside Claude Desktop and Cursor, the setup dialog shows only the AI apps installed on your machine, and the Microsoft Store build of Claude Desktop is now configured automatically. Improves first-conversation reliability: the connector now identifies itself to the AI as controlling a live Revit session. Supports Revit® 2022-2027.

1.2.0

v1.2.0 adds automatic reconnection to your live Revit session - switch between or reopen Revit versions without restarting your AI app - plus connection-reliability improvements across Revit 2022–2027.
