A tool to link RAM Structural Systems and Autodesk® Revit®. Review structural framing members in each piece of software and flags discrepancies.

General Usage Instructions

With a given RAM structural level and a given Revit level, begin the integration tool by clicking on the app icon in the addins ribbon of Revit.

Screen one -

  • Select your RAM Structural system model, .rss
  • Select your RAM level of interest,
  • Click, Select Level button

Your RAM panel will now plot your gridlines.

Next, go to your Revit panel

  • Click Gather Revit grids
  • Then click on the window over the Revit beams you want to review

Your Revit panel will now plot your gridlines.

Next, determine your X Y and Rotation parameters to map from the RAM space into the Revit space. See the YouTube video for more in-depth discussions on this process. Once you have determined these values, be sure to hit the save button, where you will be prompted to save a .json file to remember these project-level parameters. You can click import to begin your session again.

With all of the green lights lit up at the bottom of the R2R Input Window, click, Map the Beams.

The second screen you are greeted with a visual overlay of the elements selected on screen. You can control transparency, visibility and can select the RAM beams for review. Then click "Map the Beams" and a table will be genereated on the left that will flag discrepancies. The user should review this table for any items marked in yellow or that do not have the "Mapped" checkbox clicked.

NOTE: YOU MUST HAVE RAM STRUCTURAL SYSTEMS INSTALLED ON YOUR COMPUTER TO RUN THIS TOOL. The tool does not activate a license of RAM structural, but you must have RAM structural installed.

There is a free trial version of the application that limits the number of beams compared to 50 beams.

Installation/Uninstallation

The installer that ran when you downloaded this app/plug-in from Autodesk App Store will start installing the app/plug-in. OR, simply double-click the downloaded installer to install the app/plugin.

To uninstall this plug-in, exit the Autodesk product if you are currently running it, simply rerun the installer, and select the "Uninstall" button. OR, click Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features (Windows 10/11) and uninstall as you would any other application from your system.
