General Usage Instructions

Navigate to the add-in

To use the FORMlab ParameterFocus Revit Add-In:
- Open a Revit Document.
- Navigate to the FORMlab tab.
- Click the Show/Hide button to toggle the ParameterFocus panel. This panel can be docked anywhere in Revit or used as a floating window.
- If you do not have a valid license, a license window will pop up. If you're eligible for the free 30-day trial, the license will be automatically filled in.

Create a Parameter Profile

In the ParameterFocus panel, click the Edit button to go to the Profile Editor.
Here, change the name of the profile and click Add Parameter to add new parameters to the profile.
Fill in the name and type for each new parameter. If known, fill in the parameter's GUID to force correctness when parameters with duplicate names exist.
Predefine enforced values by filling them in the Values textbox, separated by a semicolon (;). For example, if you want to enforce values for the parameter FireRating, fill in the Values textbox with 30;60;90 .
Click Apply to save the profile and return to the main panel.

Edit Parameter Values

In the Inspect tab, the parameters defined in your current profile will be visible.
When your selection in Revit changes, you'll see the current parameter values of your selection.
Click Edit Parameters after changing values to update the values in the selection.
Check Include elements within selected groups to include sub-elements when groups are selected. Their values will be shown and updated as well.

Load / Save Profiles

Use the Load & Save buttons to load and save your profile. Share the file with your colleagues to create consistency across teams.

Load Shared Parameters

Click Load Shared Parameters to load the currently active Shared Parameters file as a Parameter Profile.
All shared parameters found in the file will be in the new profile, including their GUIDs.

Import From Excel

Go to the Import tab.
Select an Excel file with the Change button.
Select the name of the sheet that contains the parameter values that should be loaded in from the Worksheet Name dropdown.
The Element ID Column Name dropdown lists the headernames in all top cells. The sheet should have a column that has the element-ids of elements whose values should be updated. Select the correct header from the dropdown.
The ParameterFocus will attempt to find a matching column for each parameter in your current profile.
Click Fill From Excel to fill in values for all parameters in the current profile that were found in the columns on the sheet.
After importing, a report window will show the results of the import.
Click Export to Excel to save the report as an Excel file for further inspection.

Export to Excel

Go to the Export tab.
Click Export to Excel to export the values of the current profile's parameters for all elements in the current document to an Excel file.
Feel free to edit the file and import the changes back in using the Import tab.
