Sentinel QC for Worksets w/MCP

Sentinel QC for Worksets w/MCP

Win64, English

Terrascape AI | Trusted Find & Fix Tools for Revit QC
Check Autodesk® Revit® worksets against your team's standards. Review proposed changes, create missing worksets, rename or merge existing ones, and verify the results with saved audit receipts.

General Usage Instructions

DESKTOP PLUGIN

Open Autodesk® Revit® and select the Terrascape ribbon tab, then click Sentinel. Select Sign In & Load QC Module and complete authentication in your browser. After confirmation, return to Revit and wait for the QC tools to load.

For your first run, use a test copy of a workshared model.

Set up your workset standards

Open the profile drawer. Select an existing workset standards profile, or create a new profile and enter your required workset names. Save and activate the profile before inspection.

Inspect and choose corrections

Run Inspect to compare the active model’s worksets against the selected profile. Review the findings and choose how each workset should be handled:

  • Rename: change its name while keeping its elements assigned to it.
  • Merge: transfer its elements to the selected destination workset. Review the plan for how the emptied source will be handled.
  • Skip for now: leave it unchanged and its issue unresolved.

Keep supported mapping choices for the current model or save them to the profile for reuse.

Saved mappings may produce a ready-made plan and open Review changes directly. Select Edit decisions to reopen the dropdowns and adjust those choices.

Review, approve, and verify

Review the proposed workset creations, renames, merges, and recovery limitations. Approve only the changes you want applied.

After Apply, check the returned outcome, verification results, and remaining issues. Use Receipts to review saved operation records. Save or synchronize the model through your normal Revit workflow after reviewing the changes.

OPTIONAL AI ASSISTANT VIA CLAUDE

Claude lets you request inspections and discuss results while using Sentinel’s interactive panels to review workset decisions.

Connect Claude

  1. Install Claude Desktop and sign in to your Claude account.
  2. Keep Revit open with the intended model active and Sentinel’s QC tools loaded.
  3. Use Sentinel’s Configure Claude option to set up the connection.
  4. Fully quit and reopen Claude, then start a new chat.
  5. Confirm the Sentinel connection is enabled and its tools are available. If it is missing or disconnected, resolve the connection before continuing.

Claude requires a separate account. Third-party account requirements and charges may apply.

Inspect and review through Claude

Start with:
Inspect the current active Revit model. Do not apply any changes.
Check the model and profile names displayed in the Sentinel panel. Make your workset choices, then select Review changes. If a ready plan appears immediately, use Edit decisions to revisit the selections.

Approve through Claude

  1. Review the exact proposed changes.
  2. Select Continue in Claude. This prepares a short approval message containing a review reference; it does not apply changes.
  3. Read the prepared message and press Send once to approve that reviewed plan.
  4. If Claude displays a tool-permission prompt, review it before allowing execution.
  5. Claude requests Apply and receives the result. Read the returned result panel and explanation, including any blockers, remaining issues, or verification limitations.

Useful follow-up questions include:

  • “What changed, and are any workset issues still unresolved?”
  • “Why is this workset change blocked?”
  • “Explain the recovery options and limitations. Do not run rollback.”
  • “Draft a coordination message summarizing the unresolved workset issues.”

If you change the model, profile, or decisions, obtain a fresh review and approval. Do not reuse an old approval message.

IMPORTANT LIMITATIONS

If Apply times out or its outcome is unclear, do not repeat Apply or send another approval. Check the existing result and model state, or contact support.

Workset changes remain subject to Revit ownership, worksharing permissions, central-model availability, and other model conditions.

Where supported, recovery uses records from the current Revit session. It may restore recorded names and element assignments without exactly restoring the original model; newly created worksets may remain. Saved receipts are audit evidence—not model backups—and do not enable recovery after Revit restarts.

The AI assistant is optional. Sentinel can be used directly in Revit. Both routes use Sentinel’s underlying validation and approval checks, but their interfaces and confirmation steps differ.

Commands

Ribbon/Toolbar Icon Command Command Description

SentinelQC

Opens the Sentinel QC panel inside Revit. From this panel, you can sign in, load the QC module, inspect models against your firm's standards, review findings with severity and fix availability, approve and apply corrections, rollback changes atomically, and view tamper-evident audit receipts. The panel also detects whether Claude or Cursor is installed and offers one-click MCP configuration for AI-assisted workflows. Once connected, Claude and Cursor become an intelligent BIM assistant that can run the full QC workflow through natural conversation — one of the first MCP integrations available for Revit.

Installation/Uninstallation

Close Revit if it is open. Install Sentinel Revit QC from the Autodesk App Store — this places the Revit plugin, QC Module Tools loader, and MCP server in a single package. No separate downloads are needed.

Open Revit and click the Terrascape tab in the ribbon, then click Sentinel to open the app. On first launch, click "Sign In & Load QC Module." Your browser opens for authentication. After sign-in, the QC Module loads automatically.

To enable the AI assistant: install Claude Desktop / Cursor Desktop (free from claude.ai/download, or cursor from https://cursor.com/download). Sentinel detects it and offers one-click MCP configuration. Restart Claude / Cursor Desktop after configuring.

To uninstall, use Windows Add or Remove Programs. Profiles and receipts are stored locally in AppData and are preserved after uninstall.

Additional Information

MCP INTEGRATION
Sentinel is one of the first MCP-integrated apps available on the Autodesk App Store. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants connect to external tools and data sources. Sentinel uses MCP to connect AI Assistants like Claude or Cursor directly to the running Revit model through the Sentinel plugin.

When connected, Claude or the cursor becomes an intelligent BIM assistant that can inspect models, explain findings, apply fixes, extract standards from reference models, and manage the full QC workflow through natural conversation. The AI assistant does not bypass any safety checks — the same governed execution model (Inspect → Preview → Apply → Rollback → Receipt) applies regardless of control surface.

Claude /Cursor Desktop is optional. The Revit plugin works fully without it. To set up, install Claude Desktop from claude.ai/download, click "Configure Claude" in the Sentinel panel, and restart Claude Desktop. For Cursor, cursor.com/get-started, click "Configure Cursor" then restart Cursor.

ROADMAP
Sentinel launches with capabilities covering model intake and project setup, and common standards enforcement tasks. Seventy-two document-level capabilities are coming soon across views, sheets, annotations, graphics standards, content management, export configuration, and model health diagnostics. New capabilities are released progressively over the months following launch and plug into existing profiles with no new workflows to learn.

COMPATIBILITY

  • Current Revit 2027 and 2026 (2025 and 2024 coming soon)
  • Windows (64-bit)
  • Internet connection required for sign-in and QC module download
  • All inspection and remediation runs deterministically locally inside Revit
  • AI never touches your model.

NETWORK CALLS
All network calls are user-initiated. No calls occur in the background, on a timer, or without explicit user action. After the QC module loads, all inspection and remediation runs locally inside the Revit process.

Known Issues

Authentication is required each time Revit is opened.
The Claude Desktop "Open" button may open claude.ai in a web browser instead of the desktop app on machines where Claude is installed in a non-standard location. The MCP connection still works — open Claude Desktop manually from the Start menu.
After clicking "Configure Claude" for the first time, Claude Desktop must be restarted for the MCP connection to take effect.
"Similarly, Cursor Desktop can be configured."
