Precast Concrete
Win64, EnglishGeneral Usage Instructions
- Divide architectural walls or floor segments into separate elements.
- Modify precast concrete elements to achieve the desired LOD by adjusting geometry and volume and incorporating grout tubes, cast-in plates, anchor bolts, lifting bolts/eyes, cuts, etc.
- Place rebar.
- Sort, number, and mark elements based on volume, location, ID, length, etc.
- Generate shop drawings with required annotations and dimensions.
Here’s how to work with precast walls using the Precast Concrete app. (More details with accompanying screenshots in this article.)
▬ 1: Divide precast walls into separate panels.
Click the ‘Smart Walls’ module to access the ‘Split Wall’ menu where you can see commands for splitting walls automatically by various criteria.
Under ‘Smart Walls’, you have options to control the gap distances between wall panels (horizontally and vertically).
‘Smart Walls’ also lets you disassemble wall layers, control joins and gaps precisely, insert gravity point, split walls by grid, and adjust orientation, elevation, and coordinates for selected walls.
▬ 2: Insert structural connections.
The ‘Smart Connections’ module instantly adds face-based and line-based details according to your predefined rules. Setting up the insertion rules is straightforward. There are also settings that allow you to place families by gravity point and by surrounding elements. Configurations automatically adapt to element geometry that allows for quick modification of elements if any changes occur.
▬ 3: Sort, number, and mark elements.
The ‘Sort Mark’ module allows you to sort, number, renumber, and mark elements by predefined configurations. You can group, sort, and mark walls by size, location, or any other available parameter in a matter of seconds.
▬ 4: Create shop drawings.
The ‘Smart Assemblies’ module simplifies and automates assembly documentation creation in Revit, accommodating various standards. Use it to create views, place them on sheets, add tags/dimensions/other annotations, and generate schedules and material lists. It can even update existing drawings if any changes are made – no manual work required!
Unlike native Revit, ‘Smart Assemblies’ adds all hosted elements to a given assembly.
