MDx Revit®
Win64, EnglishGeneral Usage Instructions
This application is integrated with the WA Subscription system. Users are required to authenticate before accessing the tool. The authentication remains valid for the same day, and users must complete the authentication process once each day upon their first launch.
The platform can be extended with custom plug-ins or automations created using industry-standard programming techniques for Autodesk APIs. Information can also be written back to the models if desired, with precise control over what information is embedded in properties. All data is stored and synced in Datum (formerly PIM360), on the Autodesk Datum platform, where it can be accessed and interrogated by end users through a web interface. The platform manages and records changes to the class library as well as the individual attribute values for assets tagged in Project Information Models.
Exchange Transform and Load (ETL) operations are configured via the Datum Class Library on the Autodesk Datum platform, enabling integrations into the wider application ecosystem, such as Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC). This can include automated population of information from design models into construction check sheets and other ACC modules. Additionally, ETLs can be configured to generate tables or schedules for project delivery, handover, and downstream processes.
Datum subscription:
A valid Datum subscription is required. You can use either Datum 360 (legacy version) or ACC-Datum

Commands
Installation/Uninstallation
Use the MDX_Datum_Revit_Installer.msi if you are working with Revit.
This installer:
- Integrates MDX as a Revit add-in
- Enables classification and tagging of BIM elements
- Synchronizes model data with Datum
The installation will automatically detect and install for supported Revit versions (2022–2024).
For detailed step-by-step instructions, refer to MDX Installation for Revit
Additional Information
MDX users must be added to the Datum360 domain for the relevant project, including access to the Datum (formerly PIM360) instance.
While standard PIM/CLS permissions apply, API access is mandatory for using MDX.
The following permissions impact MDX usage:
-
API User (Mandatory) - Required for MDX functionality. Users must have API access to both Datum (PIM360) and Autodesk Class Library (CLS360).
-
Read-only - Allows users to view Active Values and all EICs. This permission is required to acquire assets.
-
Read/Write - Allows users to modify content and write data into an Engineering Information Container (EIC), and it is required to push data back to Datum (PIM360) via MDX.
-
Publish
Allows users to move an EIC into Active Values.
This permission is not required for MDX usage.
In summary, API access is essential for MDX. All other permissions follow standard Datum360 (PIM/CLS) access controls and are managed individually for each environment.

Support Information
For MDX to function with a specific Datum (formerly PIM360) instance, an MDX Service Account must be configured in ACL360.
The Autodesk Datum Administrator must log in to ACL using an Administrator account to perform this setup.

The service account:
- Must be created in ACL360
- Does not require any groups or roles
- Only needs to exist for MDX authentication
Service Account Configuration
- Username:
mdmserviceaccount - Password: Must be manually set by the administrator based on the
"serviceaccount_client_secret" provided by the Autodesk team.
