General Usage Instructions

1. Launch the 3D PDF Exporter:

Open your project in Revit®.

  • Navigate to the "3D PDF" tab on the Revit Ribbon.
  • Locate the "PDF AstraPlant" panel. You will see options for "Export PDF", "Settings", and "Help".

2. Select View for Export:

  • Ensure you have a 3D view active or available in your project (the exporter defaults to the "{3D}" view if available).
  • Adjust visibility settings, section boxes, or hide elements in Revit beforehand, as the export typically respects the current view's visible geometry.

3. Configure Your Export Settings:

  • Click the "Settings" button (or configure them during the export process) to open the Export Configuration window.
  • Precision: Adjust Geometry Precision to control the accuracy of the exported mesh.
  • Units: Select your preferred Export Unit (e.g., Meters, Feet, Inches) or leave as "Default Unit".
  • Optimization: Use the Level of Details (LOD) slider to balance visual quality against file size.
  • Visual Style: Choose a Rendering Type (e.g., Solid, Illustration, Transparent, Shaded Illustration) to define how the model initially appears in the PDF.
  • Ambiance: Select a Lighting preset (e.g., CAD Optimized, Day Lights, White Lights) and customize the Background Color.
  • Documentation: Enable Append 2D Views to include 2D sheets or views as images within the PDF package.
  • Layout: Define the Page Size (Standard A-series, Arch, or Custom dimensions).

4. Initiate the PDF Export:

  • Click the "Export PDF" button on the ribbon.
  • If configured, the Settings dialog may appear for a final check. Click "Save Settings" or "Convert" to proceed.
  • You will be prompted to specify a file name and save location for the .pdf file.
  • The exporter will process the geometry, textures, and properties. A progress indicator will track the status.

5. Utilize the Exported 3D PDF:

  • Once the export is complete, you will be prompted to open the file immediately.
  • The resulting PDF can be opened in Adobe® Acrobat® Reader or other compatible PDF viewers.
  • Users can interact with the model (rotate, pan, zoom), toggle model parts, view object properties/metadata, and access any appended 2D
