Description

This application is an Autodesk® Revit® plugin that enables you to retain the room or space boundaries even if the bounding elements are somehow lost.

There can be multiple reasons for the loss of bonding elements. A few of them are listed below:

 1. The linked file containing the bounding elements is deleted, renamed, or moved.

 2. The linked model is removed or unloaded.

 3. The user inadvertently deletes/modifies the bounding elements.

This Revit add-in creates room and space separation lines for all rooms and spaces placed in your current document.

Let’s see it in action…

We have just linked a Revit document with some walls that can act as the bounding elements for rooms and spaces. The ‘Room Bounding’ parameter of the linked file has been checked to true.

Now, let’s place some rooms in my host document so that the walls in my linked document act as the room boundaries. Everything works fine until someone deletes those walls or the linked document is renamed, removed, or goes missing somehow.

Let us unload the link to see the effect. As you can see, the rooms that we placed lose their boundaries, and we get a warning about rooms not being in a properly enclosed region. The same holds if we had placed spaces in place of rooms. The separation lines for rooms and spaces tool solves this problem by creating room and space separation lines for all the rooms and spaces in the project in a single click.

These separation lines retain the boundaries of your rooms and spaces even if the bounding elements are lost. If you wish to delete these lines at a later stage in the project, you can do so by right-clicking on a line and selecting all the instances in the entire project.
