About This Version

Version 17.4.0.0, 7/19/2017
General: •Added extra UI and functionality to make COBie IFC exports easier. Specific improvements will be detailed below. •TODO: Some of the new fields will be localized to French in a future release. New Export Functionality: •Allow curtain wall mullions to export as any supported IFC entity. •Allow families to export as IfcPile with corresponding IfcPileType. •Improve export of axis representations for structural elements. •(COBie) Add COBie Company Information tab in Modify Setup if COBie export is chosen. •(COBie) Add COBie Project Information tab in Modify Setup if COBie export is chosen. •(COBie) Improve entity naming for COBie export. •(COBie) Rename "IFC2x3 Extended FM Handover View" to "IFC2x3 COBie 2.4 Design Deliverable" •(IFC4) Improve export of material layers. •(IFC4) Modify Setup has an option to force triangulation only for tessellated outputs. Export Bug Fixes: •Allow exporting to IFC while using Collaboration for Revit where the default directory isn't local. •Better support for MEP type entities, that didn't always export correctly. •Correct the parameters of the directrix of some IfcSweptSolids. •Fix correct mapping of IfcBurnerType/IfcGasTerminalType and IfcElectricHeaterType/IfcSpaceHeaterType. •Fix creation of types for sub-entities of IfcDistributionCOntrolElement. •Fix offset problem when using the "Export Linked Files as Separate IFCs" option in locales where the decimal mark is not a point. •(IFC4) Correct names of IFC4 entity quantity sets. •(IFC4) Fix the name of IfcCommunicationsApplianceType. Import Bug Fixes: •Improve heuristic that decides the "best" material to export when we can only assign one material to geometry. •Stabilize GUIDs of some IfcOpeningElements. •Stabilize order of creation of geometry with multiple clippings and openings, to have consistent output.

  • IFC export doesn't work
Filip Zalewski | May 08, 2019 Verified Download (What's this?)

After downloading and installing this app my export stopped working. Now it doesnt want to export anything

    Andrew Parrella | July 10, 2019

I believe the exporter needs newer versions of some files than some people have in their Revit Program directories. I cannot attach files here but a zipfile can be found at this link: https://sourceforge.net/projects/ifcexporter/files/2017/Newtonsoft.Json.zip/download If you unzip that archive into your Revit 2017 Program folder you should be able to export again. (rename or copy the original Newtonsoft files first in case it doesn't work.

  • COBie Deliverable MVD output differs from FM Handover View
Richard Watson | February 20, 2019 Verified Download (What's this?)

The output from COBie Deliverable MVD differs from the FM Handover that it replaced. After exporting and viewing in Solibri, on the Identiication tab - the Name paramter value concatenates 'Type Mark' and 'Mark' parameters together - in the 17.3 version the Component Name would be mapped to this field. This causes an issue when the client is extracting COBie from the IFC, as the COBie sheet then contains a Component Name that is incorrect. To get around this issue I am using an MVD based on 'Basic FM Handover' which maps the 'Name' parameter correctly..

  • IFC export doesn't work after I set up this app
Taeho Noh | February 15, 2019 Verified Download (What's this?)

IFC export is not working since I install this app.

I have exactly the same issue as "Natalia Moreno Rojas" and others had.

I am wondering if you fix the problem. then please tell me how to fix the problem. I want to uninstall the app but I don't know how to do it either.

  • IFC export just isn't working
Natalia Moreno Rojas | December 13, 2018 Verified Download (What's this?)

As it says on the tin, you click save and while it closes the dialog, nothing happens. There's no output, no log, no file. It worked fine without the app, it just doesn't work WITH the app, and now I'm hoping that uninstalling it helped.

Please send an email to revit.apps@autodesk.com, and we can try to help you. This can happen because of a bad install, or because of a bad export mapping file, or a number of issues.

  • No Export
Kong Hoang | June 06, 2018 Verified Download (What's this?)

    Hi,

Having a similar issue here.  No export appears, doesn't matter what settings you use.  I have tried reinstalling revit and the installer from scratch, still no export. Very frustrating.

  • Export does not occur
Vincent Nadeau | May 28, 2018 Verified Download (What's this?)

The export simply does not occur. With the exact same settings as before, nothing happen when I hit the Export button.

It looks to be the same problem as Matthew Londei.

  • IFC files won't export
Matthew Londei | May 23, 2018 Verified Download (What's this?)

Having issues exporting IFCs. Once settings are setup and destination folder is established, the OK button doesn't actually export a file, it simply closes the dialog box.

  • Language setting problem, please fix it!
杉田 愉季 | May 10, 2018 Verified Download (What's this?)

I didn't know that IFCaddin become builtin in Revit2017. I was glad the dialogue was translated into Japanese. Then it returned to in English when I installed the latest version!
I am hoping that will be fixed soon!!

    Thanks!!!

    Angel Velez (Publisher) | May 10, 2018

Hi, unfortunately the addin (based on open source) isn't localized like the built-in one - it is currently only in English and French. However, we can try to get Japanese also added. Thanks for the feedback!

  • General question
    Samir Alzeer | April 10, 2018

    Hi,

does this plug-in replaces the built-in IFC export in revit 2017.2 or is it the same one?

    Thanks

    Samir Alzeer

    Angel Velez (Publisher) | April 10, 2018

Hi Samir, It replaces it. In general, the point releases only have critical IFC fixes unless there was a specific IFC project that was included. This could of course change in the future. Regards, Angel

  • COBie property set
Trang Dang | December 28, 2017 Verified Download (What's this?)

Quote from new functionality: (COBie) Rename "IFC2x3 Extended FM Handover View" to "IFC2x3 COBie 2.4 Design Deliverable" However, after installed, the user defined property set file has not been changed. I cannot find any property set file named "IFC2x3 COBie 2.4 Design Deliverable.txt"

    Angel Velez (Publisher) | January 02, 2018

Hello, you are right that the user defined file name was not changed, just the setup name. You can use any property set file, though. We may rename the file in the future to avoid confusion, thanks for the tip.

  • Works perfect
Johannes Ris | November 20, 2017 Verified Download (What's this?)

However I would like to be able to export only geometry visable in current view when I have the option "Export linked files as separate IFCs" active. 5 stars after that!

  • IFC 2017 did not finalize the export
Izabella Salvador | September 17, 2017 Verified Download (What's this?)

After installing this plugin, my export is not being completed. What should I do to resolve this issue? Thanks

  • IFC doesn't open in Navisworks
Toivo Moustgaard | August 24, 2017 Verified Download (What's this?)

IFC files exported with IFC 2017 versions 17.3.0.0 or 17.4.0.0 don't open in Navisworks. Where can I get older versions?

  • Export linked files as separate IFCs
    Øyvind Seime | July 13, 2017

When running "Export linked files as separate IFCs" I get an IFC of the complete linked model. Is there a possibility combine this with "only visible in view"?

    Andrew Parrella | August 08, 2017

That should be possible - we just haven't done it yet. I will make an item to get it done.

  • IFC solid export when overlapping
    Iván Pajares | June 09, 2017

Solid volumes representing door opening sweeps get exported as either the correct solid or it's negative representation. ie: a 90 degree sweep gets exported as a 270 degree sweep. It seems to relate to whether the solid in question overlaps or clashes with the rest of the door geometry...

    Angel Velez (Publisher) | June 12, 2017

Hi, please send a sample file with more detail to revit.apps@autodesk.com and we'll take a look.

    Iván Pajares | June 15, 2017

Angel, I sent you the rvt and ifc test model. Regards

  • IFC Import
Keith Wilkinson | April 18, 2017 Verified Download (What's this?)

Hi, are there any plans to allow an IFC to utilise Revit's project coordinate origin rather than it's geometric origin to help deal with the issues of importing IFC's generated from packages such as Archicad?

  • Curtain walls. True North
Lauri Suuronen | April 13, 2017 Verified Download (What's this?)

Curtain walls need to export with curtain walls nested as panels. There also needs to be an option to export with Project North orientation. Currently, we cannot make use of Revit's True North orientation in projects with multiple buildings sharing a common project origin, or in projects where the project origin is a geographically fixed point in the first place.

  • Loading IFC4_Add2.exp
Scott Beazley | April 12, 2017 Verified Download (What's this?)

Angel, Any tips on how to activate the file after it is placed in the EDM folder? Thanks Scott

  • Export IFC local coords
    Remy Maurcot | March 01, 2017

It would be really interesting to have an option to export in local coordinate.

    Miquel Rodríguez | March 25, 2017

If you define two Sites in the Manage(TAB)-Location (Project Location) command, and one has the survey point at 0,0 with no north angle rotation, and the other with the correct Geolocalization, you can set to current one of them and the IFC will be oriented with the local or the global coordinates.

  • IFC link ceiling problems
Lars Albjerg | February 16, 2017 Verified Download (What's this?)

Having some problems when linking an IFC file into Revit, the ceiling is placed in a wrong height. I have created the model in Revit, used the extended IFC exporter, when I open the IFC file in e.g. Solibri the ceiling is placed correct. If I try to open the IFC file directly in Revit, the ceiling is placed correct, but if I use link IFC, into Revit the ceiling is “moved” down.
