Description

The BIMobject® App for Autodesk® Revit® is one of our most advanced apps. The BIMobject® is the perfect tool for architects and everyone else looking for an app with more advanced features.

This app has all of the latest features including cloud integration, direct download, product information updates and version checking. It also includes integrated BIMail™ functions, a news section and a toolbar with featured manufacturers.

BIMobject Properties, sets future standards for extended properties, also known as parameters, meta data or attributes. It allows the manufacturer to add properties such as classification systems in a smart way.

Integrates standards into objects A Properties system sets future standards such as standardised classification systems for properties and clarifies to the market who owns the information in an easy and practical way.

Additional property sets can be used for additional properties in objects. Advanced users can add hidden properties to objects to drive logistics and purchasing at a later stage in the BIM-process.

COBie compliant COBie is the UK classification which is needed to make objects compliant for the government. Government required data can be dynamically loaded into objects via BIMobject Apps such as Operation and Maintenance properties. Importantly any future classification system for any country can be added in this way.

Multiple property sets It is possible to create several property sets within one cloud, that as an example can define information about operations and maintenance, specifications and sustainability.

Settings for limited access Properties can be open to all users or limited to a defined group. An owner of a specific Propertie set can create unique user groups, to limit access to the information, for instance a design team. It can also be public or project related.

  • Still some glitches
Christine Watts | May 18, 2017 Verified Download (What's this?)

In theory, I really like this tool: the options to search and the options from manufacturers is extensive. In reality the shift from Autodesk Seek was bumpy, and the quality of models varies. Switching from Autodesk Seek was a nightmare: it was an abrupt move that (as I was mid-project) caused me to lose access to some generic models I needed from Autodesk as well as a few vendors (Bernhardt most notably). The BIM Object staff I spoke with essentially told me "You don't need those generic models and you could always build them if you really did." Eventually I was able to get access to an old online Revit library with the help of Autodesk staff to get the specific models I needed. On the day to day though, the bigger issue to me is that not all the models created are exactly as advertised- furniture pieces being made from generic templates, ceiling lights made as face-mounted, etc. This isn't something that is BIM Object's fault (since they're user-made) but it has created some real problems when I'm trying to schedule furniture and pieces aren't populating because they're made from a 'generic' template.

    Steve Holzer | May 19, 2017

Hi Christine, We appreciate your feedback. Would you mind helping me to better understand the issue you mention: "On the day to day though, the bigger issue to me is that not all the models created are exactly as advertised- furniture pieces being made from generic templates, ceiling lights made as face-mounted, etc. This isn't something that is BIM Object's fault (since they're user-made) but it has created some real problems when I'm trying to schedule furniture and pieces aren't populating because they're made from a 'generic' template." Are the models you reference coming from BIMobject Cloud? We have a rigorous Q&A process for all content published. To my knowledge, there are no "furniture pieces being made from generic templates" on the BIMobject Cloud. If there are specific products that you find anything missing, please let me know right away by emailing us at Seek@BIMobject.com.

  • offline mode
Willie Junior | March 28, 2017 Verified Download (What's this?)

    can it be used offline?

    Ben ODonnell (Publisher) | March 30, 2017

Hi, the app requires an internet connection if you want to use any of the functionalities however it does not need it to start so it won't interfere with your offline use of Revit.

  • Doesnot start
    Budnik Christian | March 08, 2017

the plugin only starts as admin not as normal user on my pc.

    Ben ODonnell (Publisher) | March 30, 2017

Regarding this issue you might have to give you user account full rights to the file in the permission settings or right click the installer, choose properties and then click the unblock button before installing.

  • Bim object its the worse
    William Rivas | March 03, 2017

It doesn't even deserve 1 start. The web its not friendly and often I waste a lot of time looking for what I need with not positive results... I had to use other websites since BIM OBJECTS doesn't provide the tools I need. I wish Autodesk could come back to the old ways coss this doesn't work and Im speaking on behalf of most of the people that works in the same area as me

    Ben ODonnell (Publisher) | March 06, 2017

Hi William, thank you for getting back to us. We would of course try to help you get what you are after and to do that we would appreciate if you could be more specific in where we are lacking, would help a lot in order for us to improve. The products you find are exactly the same as on SEEK as they where all transfered, if you find it difficult to find what you are looking for we are aware that the search and filter works in a way you might not be used to compared to SEEK we do have a tutorial for it here: https://youtu.be/vukgs2kForg if there is anything else we can help with please send us an email at support@bimobject.com

  • Arcat is better
Tom Demita | February 27, 2017 Verified Download (What's this?)

In app sucks. Won't work 4K. Web based not much better. Difficult to search for items, better off using google.

    Ben ODonnell (Publisher) | March 01, 2017

Hi Tom, We are currently working on a fix for the 4K issue and will of course release that version as soon as possible. If you have look at this link there is a short introduction to the search functionalities as well https://youtu.be/vukgs2kForg That said we of course appreciate all feedback you can give as we are always trying to improve all our services. Best regards

  • Lacking
Ted Zachwieja | February 24, 2017 Verified Download (What's this?)

The interface app is slow compared to how Autodesk Seek used to operate. The search feature and classification system for Revit Families is not the most intuitive. When content exists the families are very well designed and work well, but there is a serious lacking of equipment for MEP engineers. If there was more content I would score this higher as I deem quality content to be the most important piece, I can live with the other issues.

    Ben ODonnell (Publisher) | February 28, 2017

Hi Ted! Thank you for providing feedback. - We are continuously working at developing the app further and the speed is something we are focusing at in the coming version. - The search and classifications we are trying to optimize and improve at all times so over time we are confident you'll find this better and better. - Our library is growing steadily so hopefully we will see some more MEP content available soon. You should however find the some products and manufacturers that was available on SEEK, if not please let us know which you are missing and we'll look into it. Best regards

  • Problem with window display
Igor Yurchenco | January 22, 2017 Verified Download (What's this?)

Hello, I installed application for Revit and when I go to browse or other instruments, all in window goes displaced, i think the problem is in 4K display. BIMobject application does support 4K displays? or my problem is not in display?

    Ben ODonnell (Publisher) | January 23, 2017

Hi Igor, Try to set the display zoom setting to 100% in the control panel. Since the app launches a browser window it might get affected by this setting and its something we've encountered on Retina and 4K screens (in some cases). Regards

  • Revit files hardly available for download
Chad Sargeant | November 05, 2016 Verified Download (What's this?)

Poplar appliances are hardly available to download as revit families and when you do find something it doesn't even download might as well spend some time designing your own family

BIM object for revit 2016?? date of relase

    Ben ODonnell (Publisher) | August 18, 2015

BIMobject 3.0 and 2016 support. Just a quick update on the status on the BIMobject app. The new version of the BIMobject® Revit app has been submitted for approval. There has been one issue that has been identified, it has to do with Revit 2013. We are in the process of fixing the issue. Once the bug has been fixed, the app should be released immediately after. The main reason the app has taken so long this time round is due to many factors, one of them is our brand new BOPC™ technology. More about BOPC™ can be found on bimobject.com Thank you all for your patients, the BIMobject Revit 3.0 app will be available very soon. Please don't hesitate to contact us at BIMobject if you have any questions. Ben

    dont work with revit 2016

    Martin Andreas Kruse | November 11, 2015

One star because you decide to go with a just-released software, and you find out that add-ins aren't updated yet? Take a chill pill, and if you really need add-ins or other plug-ins, go with older software...that's something most people know in this field.

    Ben ODonnell (Publisher) | November 13, 2015

Hi Martin, Not sure I understand you correctly? We support Revit versions 2014 through 2016, not just 2016. Is your Revit version missing?

    BIMobject for revit 2014?

  • Good but lacking
Michael Ware | August 29, 2012 Verified Download (What's this?)

The plugin is really just a web interface shortcut but its nice that's easy to access. The problem I had was the amount of content available. There really isn't very much to use, for example when filtered for appliances it brought up less than 20 hits and the majority were power panels. More content is definitely needed. Otherwise it does work.

  • Finally! Automaic loading of components directly into Revit.
Ben Flygare | June 04, 2012 Verified Download (What's this?)

At last. An app that loads in components, doors and windows automaticaly, saves me a lot of time unzipping and loading components. Love this little app.
