    Too bad development has stop.

For now, we can still use it by editing te xml file (see below), but one day, i suppose it won't work.

    Anybody can take the project?

    Nick Antonov | February 23, 2024

Yes it works with Editing XML file and copying folder under "Contents" folder and renaming the copy with respected version No of Revit.. if you want to use his "xml" syntaxis.

  • Would love a 2023 Version

  • Edit file PackageContents.xml
Adrian Munteanu | June 22, 2022 Verified Download (What's this?)

Just edit file c:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\Backup File Organizer.bundle\PackageContents.xml. Replace 2020 with 2022 for revit version only, not Backup File Organizer version.

    Gerben Van Deel | July 28, 2022

Hello, can you tell me exactly what to change? I'm still using rvt 2020 sometimes. So mamybe i can change the "2017" text?

    Adrian Munteanu | August 04, 2022

Components Description="2023" RuntimeRequirements OS="Win64" Platform="Revit" SeriesMin="R2023" SeriesMax="R2023" ComponentEntry AppName="Backup File Organizer" Version="2020.0.0.0" ModuleName="./Contents/2020/BackupOrganizer.addin" AppDescription="Backup File Organizer" 2023 was changed from 2020. Notice hat I left the Backup File Organizer as 2020. Instead of 2023, you should write the version of Revit you have. Also, you can copy the entire paragraph and change accordingly if you have more than one version of Revit.

I work with revit 2024. And it works the way you suggested. Thanks a lot. Ps:I have seen many basic features that Revit omits. It makes users really uncomfortable. And every time the Topics complain about it, many experts say it's a feature and that this is how revit works. Until one day, Revit updated the new version and some of these features were met LOL

    Chengsheng Jia | September 25, 2023

Why did I follow your method, revit2023 does not work

    Jason Douglas | April 16, 2024

Thank you. I followed your instructions exactly and I have the app working for Revit 2024 & 2025.

    Henry Huijbers | March 04, 2022

    And a 2022 one.

    Henry Huijbers | March 10, 2022

I'm afraight it'won't come. The webside of the developer isn't there anymore. Someone should take over.

  • Excellent add on Please update for 2022 Please!!
Nick Antonov | November 09, 2020 Verified Download (What's this?)

Excellent add on, It helps us keep only the working files in the project folder, but keeping the backups just in case we need to revert to historic data.

    Well Done

  • Awesome Backup Toolkit
Akesh Jugmohan | September 17, 2020 Verified Download (What's this?)

I have used this tool for all my Revit versions.  Really tidy's up the project/family folder from all the backup file clutter into a single backup folder.

I have followed the steps of editing the .xml fiel as explained above and it works perfectly.  Thanks for the tip.

  • i LOVE this addin
Tropic Design Studio | July 20, 2020 Verified Download (What's this?)

Perhaps Im OCD but having all those backup files in the parent dircetory drives me NUTS. Actually it has cost me work before when i mistakenly worked on a backup file for a full day and then struggles to recoconcle the work i had done with the correct file.

This app keeps all those pesky backups nice and out of site in their own dedicated folder. Thanks!
