Description

Scan Terrain will create an Autodesk® Revit® Toposurface from a laser-scanned point cloud. Options are available to set the point spacing and to isolate the ground surface. When Isolating the ground surface, parameters are available to specify if the ground surface is flat, hilly, or mountainous and if the terrain has steps or steep slopes.

These parameters help to ensure the ground surface is calculated correctly. There is also a command to add Toposurface points from the point cloud to an existing Toposurface with the option to delete the existing points in the area of newly added points.

This is an essential plugin for any point cloud work flow.  Are there any updates on when it is coming to Revit 2025

  • Convertion Accuracy
    Jun Jabinal | May 04, 2020

    Good day,

May I know the Accuracy rate of convertion from pointcloud to Toposurface? Thank you in advance. God bless.

    Ingersoll Consulting (Publisher) | May 07, 2020

The Toposurface points are created directly from the point cloud through a process of subsampling. The accuracy of the Toposurface between the points is directly related to point spacing. Why is this a 2-start review? If you are having problems with accuracy, please send an email to support.

  • Very useful tool
    Michael Grugl | May 07, 2019

This tool supplements a functionality Revit should have by default. Very good this developer supplements it. It's easy to use, configurable and well documented. Also, the developer responds quickly to requests (have been asking if a 2020 will be available. Immediate answer was yes)

  • Perfect

  • Thank you!

I've been really frustrated trying to find an optimal solution for my point cloud scan. This really is a great and simple software. Does exactly what it says. Thanks once again.

  • Great value for money
    German Otto Bodenbender | July 04, 2018

Great add-in that does exactly what we need, create topo from points clouds. Before this I had to develop a tedious workflow that invoves Civil 3D and other softwares.

  • Impressive
Robert Glover | June 18, 2018 Verified Download (What's this?)

Working on projects on hills has always been a problem for designers, but with a couple hours of laser scanning (or minutes of flying a drone though far less accurate) plus this app we can have accurate elevations of the site without all the trees, buildings, and other items that cause point clouds to be less than useful for new building work. It's amazing and I'm passing the word along to the rest of my BIM/VDC team at my company.

  • Get it while its still cheap
Andy Schiff | December 20, 2017 Verified Download (What's this?)

I almost cant believe that a 5 dollar add-in would work so well. I have pushed gigs and gigs through different point cloud software like Pix4D and CloudCompare and this add-in is just as accurate for creating Topo surfaces and a hec of a lot quicker than running all that raw data through several different programs just to get some contour lines to create a Topo that conflicts with each other. Using Scan To Terrain is a huge time saver. And the Point Cloud and the Topo will be in uniform. Thanks so much for creating this add-in

  • No Point Cloud selectable
    Arne Kolisch | November 10, 2017

Started a new project and loaded an .rcp point cloud file. As soon as I click the "Create Toposurface" button the screen and the menu gray out and the cursor changes to a selection not allowed symbol - can't click on anything. Only option is to cancel the selection by pressing esc. What am I doing wrong? Using Autodesk Revit 2017.

    Arne Kolisch | November 20, 2017

Got this result in site plan (lageplan in german) and every other 2D view.

    Ingersoll Consulting (Publisher) | April 03, 2018

This was caused by a problem with non-English versions of Revit and has been corrected in the 1.1 version. Please download and install the latest version of the app.
