Description

UPDATE: The registration web form has been decommissioned. Please download/install the latest version of the plug-in if the plug-in is prompting you to register.

DPR Model Slicer is a free Autodesk® Revit® plug-in that facilitates the creation of 3D Building sections from a Revit model. Inherently within Revit, the only way to separate a model by the floor is to filter it by reference levels. Unfortunately, this often results in a product  (shown below), where items modeled as multi-floor elements, such as walls or columns, become associated with only one floor despite occupying space on many floors.

During the construction coordination process, this can be a limitation, so it is often desired to have the building model separated into individual floors. DPR Model Slicer makes this process faster. The end result is a model that is sectioned by floors.

Note: This app uses a custom installer (and not the standard App Store installer).

When are you guys going to release the version that supports Revit 2024 or later?  I'm willing to pay for it if that's what it takes.  Thanks in advance.

If you have a revit model that will not create views or views are empty do the following:

Confirm that the "View Template applied to new views" is set to "<None>" in the "System Family: 3D View" Family and "3D View" Type by clicking the Edit Type in the Properties panel of any 3D view.

Confirm by creating a new "Default 3D View" and look at the "View Template" under "Identity Data" in the properites panel of the new view you just created. If correct you are set to use the DPR Model Slicer plug in.

When in the DPR Model Slicer "Create 3D Sections" tool click every row to get the "Minimum (X,Y,Z)" and "Maximum (X,Y,Z)" to populate. Click any of the rows in visibility settings. The “Save” Button should light up. Click “Save”. Once values are set you can click "Create 3D View" to make the views. At this stage you should be good.

Additionally setting "Visibility Settings" to a known good template is good practice. Click “Save”. You can always modify the view after the tool is run.

How do you control NWC settings? I can't see a way to modify the export settings unfortunately.

Great if you have a specify task for construction animation, just wondering though if you guys going to make it for Revit 2018?

    Justin Schmidt | October 03, 2017

We will hopefully have it available soon here for 2018

Glad this got into 2018!!! Was hoping it would happen before our office officially changed versions.

Is there any workflow to work on project with grids that are not orthogonal? Is there a way to rotate section box at an angle?

Can we get a 2017 version of this? Edit: Thanks!

    It's now available.

Jonathon Garza | February 26, 2016 Verified Download (What's this?)

Works great in 2015 Revit, we are always required to export out per level. Some managers have worked hard to set up all there views just right so that everything will export out the way they want. This took me 5 minutes and delivered the same results.

  • Does not work for Revit 2016

Pretty cool tool to use. My wish is that the extents for the 3D view could be defined graphically.
