PointFuse Plugin for Autodesk® Revit®
Digitally signed app
Are you looking to optimize your use of point cloud data in Autodesk® Revit®?
The FREE TO USE PointFuse as-built mesh plugin for Revit enables users to utilize the full potential of their point cloud data, in a completely scalable way and without any negative performance issues.
How does it work?
Using either PointFuse Standard or Pro, a point cloud is automatically converted into a segmented mesh model, which can be classified.
Once ready, this mesh is published to a PointFuse Revit File Format (.prf) using the “Publish to Revit” command, ready to be linked into any existing Revit project, on any users machine, whether they have a license of PointFuse or not. This means all project team members can have access to, and effectively use, the Reality Capture data that has been captured for the project.
The PointFuse free trial may be accessed from our website.
Why is this useful?
Using Point Clouds, especially in large areas, can be tricky inside Revit for a number of reasons. The point cloud is a big, single object, so it can be difficult to get into the data to start modeling or to see what is going on. It requires a high degree of skill to interpret; and most importantly, a point cloud in view can cause negative performance issues and hardware slow-down, creating significant productivity problems for those users attempting to use the point cloud.
The PointFuse for Revit plugin alleviates these issues by:
Creating a mesh file that is significantly smaller than the point cloud
Viewing large scale data efficiently and without any hardware performance issues
Allowing you to toggle the visibility of layers on and off, meaning you only need to view exactly what is relevant to you.
Providing a free-to-use plugin that anyone can download and use.
The more people that can access and effectively utilize reality capture data, the better the return on investment for the scanning. Easy to use Reality Capture also helps to prevent design errors, by providing accurate as-built conditions, leading to a reduction in costly rework and ultimately cost savings across the entire project.
