Cadac Organice Vault adds several features to Autodesk® Vault® Explorer and it extends the Job Processor with some additional job handlers.

General Usage Instructions

After installing the Autodesk® Vault® add-in you need to restart Vault Explorer in order to see the changes to the user interface. Features can be enabled and configured by Vault administrators. In this section some quick start guidelines are described. Click here for the complete product manual.

Quick Start: Secondary Documents for Inventor documents

  1. Log into Vault as a Vault administrator
  2. Go to the Tools menu → Cadac Organice → Vault Settings
  3. Go to the Files tab and click the Inventor Options button in the Secondary Documents section
  4. Select the export formats for each Inventor document type that needs to be generated. Use the small settings button behind each export format to adjust the export settings.

Now the configuration is in place, you need to schedule the job handler on one or more file life cycle transitions.

  1. Go to the General tab and click on the Options button in the Life Cycle Events section.
  2. Select a file life cycle definition to have all the states in that definition listed in the left column.
  3. Select a certain state in the left column to have all the possible transitions listed in the second column.
  4. Select the transition to schedule the job on.
  5. Click the ‘Add Job to Transition’ button and select the ‘Organice.Vault.SecondaryDocument.Create’ job.

Now everything is in place to use this feature.

  1. Select a file in Vault and change the State of the document. Once your document has gone through the transition you scheduled the job on (ex: For Review à Released) a job will be added to the job queue.
  2. Let the Job Processor handle the job.
  3. Refresh the view in Vault and select the ‘Secondary Documents’ tab to view the generated Secondary Documents.

Quick Start: Global User Interface

Use this feature to deploy your Vault grid configuration to every client in your organization.

  1. Modify the data grids by adding or removing columns on the several different locations in Vault Explorer. Create shortcuts, saved searches and custom views according to your needs. Hide System and/or User Defined Properties in the Properties Grid.
  2. When you are finished creating the environment you want to deploy to all clients in your Organization you need to shutdown Vault Explorer once to let the system write your changes back to some local xml files.
  3. Re-launch Vault Explorer and log into Vault as a Vault administrator.
  4. Go to the Tools menu → Cadac Organice → Vault Settings.
  5. Go to the General tab and click the Options button in the Global User Interface section.
  6. Select a folder where you want to store the deployment package which every client will use to update its user interface.
  7. Select the deployment contents you want to include in the package.
  8. Click Ok to generate the package and store it in the selected folder in Vault.

 

Now the package has been created, you can ask your colleagues (who have this Vault add-in installed as well) to restart Vault Explorer. After logging into Vault again they will get a message telling the Administrator has modified the user interface configuration. They need to shutdown Vault Explorer to deploy the configuration files to the proper location. After Vault Explorer is started up again, everybody will have the same look and feel.

Cadac Organice DCS Integration

Offers a unique integration between Autodesk Vault and Microsoft SharePoint leveraging the strengths of the engineering design management capabilities of Autodesk Vault, the document management capabilities of Microsoft SharePoint and the engineering document control capabilities of Cadac Organice.

Visual Life Cycle Tab

Provides a detail tab which shows graphical information about the life cycle definition of the selected document. It shows all the allowed transitions of the current lifecycle state as well as other relevant information such as revision bumps or transition rules.

Default Folder Structure

Deploy a default folder structure based on one or more templates to your Vault. Optionally you can copy folder template properties and template folder security. Restrict the use of the feature to members of a certain group and/or to a certain folder category.

Secondary Documents

Automatically create design visualizations of Inventor and AutoCAD documents by the job processor upon state transition.

Populate Folder Properties

Folder Property value inheritance enables child folders in a folder structure to obtain the value of a particular parent folder property. Administrators are able to configure a mapping scheme. Users are able to deploy the mapping scheme to a selection of folders. Besides a one to one mapping of a parent folder property to a child folder property there is also an option to define formulas. This allows you to combine multiple folder properties into one folder property. Criteria rules can be used to define a static value for a property based on a combination of criteria.

Item Export

Automatically export an item and its bill of materials in xml or csv format when a document in Vault has been released. Combined with the Document – Item Link feature where the release process of documents is leading this feature automates the whole post process to feed your ERP system.

Document - Item Link

Automate the release process of items by making the release process of documents leading. In a standard Vault the user needs to perform many actions to assign, update and release items. This dramatically simplifies this process. The job processor will keep the document and item states and revisions in sync.

Project Settings

Secondary Document Options can be configured on global or project level. Enable Project Based Settings to specify the folder category where Project Settings can be applied. Optionally you can restrict the use of the Project Settings command to members of selected groups.

Global User Interface

Deploy your Vault grid configurations, CAD grid configurations, saved searches and Data Standard configurations to every Vault client in your organization.

Publish to SharePoint

Automatically upload secondary documents of Inventor documents to one or more SharePoint document libraries by the job processor upon state transition.

Elevated Privileges

Some background operations require a higher permission level then most Vault users have. To be able to process certain requests you will need to specify administrator credentials in the Elevated Privileges Options.

Website Tab

Provides a detail tab which shows a web page. The main web page can be configured. You can also define an override property that reads an internet address from a file, folder, item or change order property to update the web page based on the selected object.

Installation/Uninstallation

NOTE: To be able to install this app you need local administrator permissions on your system. After installation the trial needs to be activated by clicking 'Request License' in the license dialog. You'll get the activation code as soon as possible.

The installer that ran when you downloaded this App from Autodesk App Store has already installed the App.

To uninstall this plug-in, exit the Autodesk product if you are currently running it, simply rerun the installer, and select the "Uninstall" button.

OR, you can uninstall it from 'Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features' (Windows 7/8/8.1/10) or Add/Remove Programs (Windows XP), just as you would uninstall any other application from your system.
