Purge CAD Patterns

Purge CAD Patterns

After importing CAD files to Autodesk® Revit®, tens if not hundreds of unwanted Line Patterns (Line Types as per AutoCAD® terminology) are created. So every time users wish to select a pattern, the lists containing unwanted Line Patterns are displayed. The default purge command doesn't assume that you don't need them, and so, unfortunately users have to delete each of the Line Patterns one by one...

Many Revit users have started to notice this issue since the new CAD exporting dialog has been provided, with a dedicated table to map Revit Line Patterns to CAD Line types. This tool helps purge all such imported line patterns with a single click.

Please upgrade to 2016 and 2017.

    Ken Cross | July 07, 2017

You can copy it from the add-in folder and put it in the 2016 or 2017 folder and it still works

  • Does what is says, but where is the 2016 and 2017 upgrade?
Travis Premo | May 26, 2016 Verified Download (What's this?)

Three stars for its diminishing relevance as Revit versions move forward. Please provide an upgrade! It works great on the older versions!

  • Revit Line Patterns equal AutoCAD Linetypes
Gary Murphy | February 11, 2016 Verified Download (What's this?)

Does one thing and does it well. I'm setting up a template and it purged over 500 imported linetypes.

  • Question - Support listed above doesn't work
Ben Schwarz | December 03, 2015 Verified Download (What's this?)

Seems like a great tool, would just like to confirm that this tool purges ONLY the UNUSED cad line patterns that are in a Revit file?

    Ron McDonald | January 27, 2016

This is not a purge tool, but a delete tool. The name is misleading. It should be called DELETE DWG LINETYPES. Good tool all the same.

  • 2016?
Zacahry Webber | September 14, 2015 Verified Download (What's this?)

Could really use a 2016 version please and thank you

  • Please Release the 2016 version!
Victoria Johnson | July 27, 2015 Verified Download (What's this?)

I LOVE this add-in. But I need the Upgrade for Revit 2016. I've got 4 ongoing 2016 projects, at least one of which has the buggy DGN line-types from CAD buried in it.

  • Import Linetypes Gone

  • This purges Imported Revit Line Patterns.
Ross Lamba | November 25, 2014 Verified Download (What's this?)

Great little tool to purge those pesky autocad linestyles that keep adding up everytime you update the dwg files that are linked into the Revit drawing.

  • Line Patterns
darin blair | October 15, 2014 Verified Download (What's this?)

Oooh, this purges line patterns (like the name says) and not line styles. While I am sure this tool is very useful, it would be nice if it purged line styles as well. Selecting line styles is a much more frequent occurrence than selecting line patterns. Thanks for the free app though!!!

  • Great Plugin
Jason Andersen | May 28, 2013 Verified Download (What's this?)

Would second the call for 2012 and 2014 versions, thx ammar

  • Great but needs update
Sba Architects | May 22, 2013 Verified Download (What's this?)

cant get it to work with revit 2014 please update this, one of my essential tools.

    Tim Lowerre | March 28, 2014

I can't get it to work either (in Revit 2014) and I don't see any clear indication what version of Revit this is for.

  • All or nothing
Ian Roth | April 12, 2013 Verified Download (What's this?)

The tool appears to work as advertised, but I'd like a little more control over what it purges. Right now it does everything. I'd like a dialog box, similar to Revit's own Purge command, which lets me choose which patterns to purge and which to keep.

  • Works great on 2013!
    R Michael Torrey | November 06, 2012 Verified Download (What's this?)

Simple, quick, easy and effective. I want a version for 2012! thanks!

  • Cool
Mike Fooy | October 10, 2012 Verified Download (What's this?)

  • @ Vance
Ammar Berrou | September 21, 2012 Verified Download (What's this?)

as written in 1st line of description: - line pattern as per Revit Terminology - linetype as per Autocad Terminology snapshots also show this clearly

It's line patterns by Revit's terminology.
