CyberStudio Apps came about as a hobby. Believe it or not, I am an architect licensed in California. Along with many other things, I happen to enjoy computer programming - I think my father had something to do with that. He was a customer engineer for IBM in the 50's & 60's - he enjoys computers too.
I started drafting while quite young because I could not free-hand sketch like my brother but still wanted to draw like he did. I kept on drafting, went to Cal Poly State University, and became a licensed Architect in the early 80's. While at university, I took computer programming classes - Fortran 4 on an IBM 370 and basic on a Dec PDP11.
At my first architectural job, one of the owners happened to be a computer "enthusiast" - he was developing software for the company. He found out that I could program so I spent a part of my time working on in-house programs. This actually kept me employed during the recession at the beginning of the 80's. I've been writing programs in one way or another ever since.
I live and work in Los Angeles and Orange counties as a full time Architect coordinating the documents contractors use to build the projects. I mostly work on malls and large shopping centers throughout California but, I have worked on a large mall in Dubai too.
