Beschreibung

WoodWorkingWizard is a comprehensive Autodesk® Fusion® add-in designed to automate and streamline woodworking and cabinet-making workflows.

It allows users to create fully parametric projects, such as cabinets, bases, and toekicks by defining dimensions, material types, thicknesses, and internal layouts (shelves, drawers, doors, dividers). From these parameters, the plugin automatically generates a 3D model, produces a detailed cut list, and prepares all data required for manufacturing.

At the core of WoodWorkingWizard lies its standout capability: the intelligent nesting engine, entirely written in Python with no external dependencies. This engine optimizes how wooden parts are laid out on sheet material, drastically reducing waste and maximizing material utilization. It uses an advanced hybrid algorithm combining the Corner-Occupying Action (CCOA) strategy with a skyline fallback method, allowing parts to be placed efficiently even with rotation constraints. The nesting module performs up to 128 optimization attempts, separates sheets by thickness, and can back-fill unused areas to further improve yield.

The output includes a CSV report listing panels grouped by sheet, overall waste percentage, and material usage statistics. The add-in also offers a 3D visualization of the nesting layout directly in Fusion, showing real-scale parts, kerf spacing, and sheet transparency—helping users verify the plan before cutting.

In essence, WoodWorkingWizard provides a full design-to-production pipeline, but it’s the nesting feature—fast, precise, and visual—that truly distinguishes it. It transforms a simple cabinet design into an optimized, production-ready project that saves both material and time.

  • Very nice, but one error
Andreas Meyer | Februar 09, 2026 Geprüfter Download (Was ist das?)

This is a really nice tool for woodworking.
Besides one crappy error: The rear-plate of the drawers does not match with the rest of the drawer. In fact it is positioned flat at the top and its downwards dimension is too small. So it cannot be fixed with the base-plate. That is a pitty and I would be very happy with a bugfixed version. :-)

Dear Andreas, thanks for your review! It is a well known bug, the good news is that in a couple of weeks an update will be released and it will be fixed. Stay tuned!

  • Works well!

This doesn't have great reviews but I used this with ease. It took a minute to figure out how to install it. Had to first run it on my PC before it showed up in Fusion360 add-ins.

Its features are similar to that of Sketchup's cutlist program, and it will generate the sheets in the Fusion360 model also if you desire for it to. Great free tool for a woodworker that wants to quickly generate the list.

  • UPDATE: Mac OS installation problems

    UPDATED REVIEW:

I took a risk and bypassed Apple's warnings and installed this extension.

It works pretty well. I used it for a garage wall cabinet project above the washer/dryer. It created a clean, Scandinavian / IKEA style clean, modern looking cabinets. It was easy to generate cut list as well as a plywood sheet layout. However I used the result only as a guide and NOT as final solution because:

    1) The plywood layout isn't really optimized well enough for breaking down the full sheet into manageable sizes. So, I just moved each piece around to get clean/straight cut lines to break down the plywood. Also, if you're doing multiple similar cabinets, I am not sure if the plywood layout is optimized accordingly. Again, here manually moving each piece is needed.

    2) The design doesn't  allow optimizing for different joinery styles. For instance, this created a "butt joint", i.e., end grain to face grain type joints. If you want to include dado cuts for stronger joints, you can't do it.

    3) The back panel uses the same thickness material as the rest of the cabinet. One often uses a thinner plywood or hardwood sheet for the back. It would be nice to add this option.

Perhaps some of the above concerns are because I simply couldn't figure out how to use the add-in properly. All in all, it was still very useful and I was able to get a good starting point to tweak for my own purposes.

    ORIGINAL REVIEW:

When I try to run the insallation package (WoodWorkingWizard_macos.pkg), the Mac OS is giving me a warning saying that it can't verify if this package is free of malware.

Can someone ensure this install package has a properly signed security certificate?

As it is, you can't pay me enough to install this on my computer.

Hi! Thanks for your feedback! The signature of a software is requiring a yearly payment up to 800$. Since the software is free, is not signed. No one is forcing you to download or install :)
