Light a scene using a high-resolution HDR environment in Autodesk® 3ds Max®.
The main feature is that the value of each pixel is proportional to the quantity of light on each pixel. Basically, instead of just storing colors on the screen like normal bitmaps do, the HDR format stores the quantity of light per pixel. Meaning we can have more than 256 levels of luminosity.
