Using this addin, all open windows can be arranged by a scheme. Contrary to the built-in windows arranging tool which allows you only to tile or cascade windows, PXBIM WindowsLayout assumes that you want the active window to get most of the screen space. You can give 20 to 80 percent of the screen space to the active window while the inactive windows will arrange in the remaining space. Additionally, you can save and restore your window configuration. Optionally, you can decide if you want the re-arranged windows to be zoomed in or not.
Acerca de esta versión
Versión 1.0.6, 28/04/2017
Added support for Revit 2018
It has not been uptated since 2018.
Please. Pretty Please??? I'll personally buy you a cake and throw you a party if you update this.
Revit's built-in window tiler has nothing on what this plugin does...
Please update for 2020 and up!!
Good plugin
please update to 2020
Apart from organising views in Palladio X BIM WindowsLayout you can save your favourite layout as well.
After signing into Revit, you just click on the saved layout button and your previously saved layout will be displayed. I love this feature as it saves time and effort every time you log on to Revit. I am incredibly sad that you decided to discontinue Palladio X BIM WindowsLayout for Revit versions from 2019 and up. I know that view placing has improved from Revit 2019, but there is no way to save your preferred layout of views and this needs to be set up every time you log on. I really hope you would reconsider and continue developing Palladio X BIM WindowsLayout for all Revit versions from 2019 on. I would be extremely grateful if you would!
Hola , si te lo pedimos por favor, actualiza para 2019-2021 lo tengo en 2017 y trabaja de maravilla y ahorra mucho tiempo
Please update this plug-in! Revit's built-in tiling system is nothing compared to how well this one works(ed).
Why have you stopped updating? So many still requesting this!
thank you a lot
1. Update so there's Revit 2019 and 2020 support pls.
2. Maybe update the grid layout options so that for a wide screen you can get 1 main window on the left/right and e.g. 4 equally-sized windows squared 2x2 or 3x3. On a widedual monitor setup this makes so much sense. 1 main window on the side and the remaining space next to it to be subdivided into 2x2, 3x3, etc.
Agree! Is there a similar add-on out there for Rev. 19???
Don't think so. That's why it'd be nice if these guys updated.
Yes please, 2019 and 2020 support.
help a lot. waiting 2019.
need a 2019 version... and the 2020 will be soon avalaible, need it too
thanks for your help
Phil
please. wait for Revit 2019 version
this is a brilliant ad don makes working with dual monitors much easier
Imho wichtigstes Tool für Revit, spart enorm Zeit
Essential tool, I really miss it in Revit 2019!
i couldn't i agree more, please update to 2019!
I too agree... please update to be used in Revit 2019. And thank you!
I agree as well...just updated to 2019 and went looking for the update to this. Please update for 2019 Revit. Thank you for your great work.
DITTO - Must have for 2019!
Hallo zusammen, muss ich mich anschließen. Trotz neuem Handling vermisse ich es schon nach den ersten Minuten. Bitte für 2019 aktualisieren
I agree too, please update!
I'll need this for 2019 as well!
please update!! :) we need you!!
I have come to rely on this tool greatly. Please update to 2019. My whole office needs you :)
Been Using Since it 1st Came out....I especially love the way you can adjust the Size of the main windwo with the Larger/Smaller Buttons...Awesome tool!
I would love to see this in 2019. Even if it "only" worked with windowing tabbed views and compleatly ignored 2019's docking abilities. Great work BTW. Maybe a new add-in for R2019 so you don't have to break this great tool for previous versions of Revit?
I bet my efficiency drops significantly in 2019 without it...dragging tabs around etc...
I hate to say it, but I can actually limp along without it, but I miss it... please bring it to Revit 2019 :)
Dear Mitchell Thompson, as you may have already seen, Revit 2019 has a window system that enables docking, tabbing and tearing off the views. At the moment, we don't see a way to adjust the tool for Revit 2019, given limited resources for this free add-in. But this may change in the future - I use the tool on myself, of course.
To Rudolf Honke: I would definitely pay money for this to be available, and I wish that I could. I just started with 2019 and I'm hessitant to actually do that since I remember how much of an hassle I thought it was before I found XBIM Win Layout! Start a funding campain and I will happily chip in!
Your MSI can mostly be targetted at all users rather than the logged-in user by altering some row data except that, even having disabled the Custom Action (CA) that sets the AppDataFolder property, the function called from the 'CertificateInstallerCA.19FBBD36_FB6F_49F4_8CC2_74EBC17A8B08' CA that installs the certificate is hard-coded to look for the certificate folder beneath %AppData%. Why?!? Single user-targetted apps are a no-no in an enterprise deployment.
Please release an MSI with the 'CertificateInstallerCA.19FBBD36_FB6F_49F4_8CC2_74EBC17A8B08' CA altered to accept a source folder.
I love it!
Perfect tool, love it!
The only app which I consider myself dependent of. Thank you for making this!
I have been using this addin for a while, and there is one thing that I would love for it to do. My typical use case is having Revit stretched across two screens, with my main display having the full display taken up by the current view I’m in. On the second display, using the “left” command In your addin, stacks the remaining open windows vertically, and they’re stretched the full width of the monitor. What I’d LOVE to be possible, would be to have the “left” functionality for the left half of the screen, while adding the “tile” function for the second half of the screen, for the remaining open windows. I’ll attach a screenshot depicting how I’d like it. This would allow more useable windows when more are open, than having a lot of short, wide windows that don’t use the space efficiently. I don’t expect this to be possible right away, but would be extremely appreciated for a later revision of the addin. You can view a screen shot that I’ve annotated here: https://www.screencast.com/t/bd44NU4mFy0 Thanks for considering!!
I'm looking for the exact same configuration!
I too am looking for the exact same configuration.
Exactly what I want as well, and maybe the ability to "tile" them not wide as is the case now, but vertical/tall windows for using when I want to have several wall elevations on my screen :) Otherwise exellent app! Been using it several years now :)
This is awesome. The only thing that seems to be missing is the option to have multiple view configurations per project. I work in the MEP world. So when I'm doing HVAC, I will have my Mechanical floorplans, sections, and 3D views open. But in the same project, I will also have Plumbing. And when I'm working on Plumbing, I need to have my Plumbing floorplans, sections, and 3D views open. It would be awesome to be able to save multiple configurations where you have a home one that works the same as the restore one. But then you could have a drop down that would let you select different ones that you save and rename. So I could quickly switch between Mechanical, Plumbing, Electrical, etc. Now that would be worth spending the money on. Call it a "Pro" version if you want. I did find a small work-around if anyone is looking for something similar. The windows arrangements are stored in Documents\MuM acadGraph\WindowPositions.xml. I saved my layout for HVAC and then went into the xml file and made a copy called HVAC. I then set up my Plumbing window layout and saved that one. I again copied the XML file and called it Plumbing. In each of the copies, I deleted everything but that Projects window layouts. I have that folder shortcut saved, so it only takes me a second to swap out the window layouts. With 6-8 windows open each time, it definitely saves time.
In the help file, the icon associated with the Tile button has a description that says can tile windows horizontally or vertically. When I hit the tile button, there is no option to choose, it just tiles all the windows horizontally. I'd like to just tile vertically. Can you help?
I d/l-ed this app for exactly this reason, to tile windows vertically and have the same question - there seems to be no option to change which way it tiles. I was able to workaround it by using the 'top' button when two windows are open and using the 'Bigger' command to make the windows equal size. I'm hoping there's an easy solution to making this part of the 'tile' command. Thanks! Running Revit '15 (Arch) - haven't checked it in Revit '17 yet.
Very usefull add-in. One question, the save button don't work for me. Is it because i'm not admin on my computer ? (Revit 2016)
Dear Michel, there is a C:\Users\<USERNAME>\Documents\MuM acadGraph\PXBIM WLayout <YEAR> folder. In this folder, there should be two files, "Options.xml" and "WindowPositions.xml". The "Save" button adds the current project's window positions to the WindowPositions file. If not present, the file will be created when starting Revit. You should have write permission to that directory even if not having admin rights. If the file is corrupted, you could shut down Revit, rename the "WindowPositions.xml" (e.g. "WindowPositions_backup.xml") and restart Revit, forcing the app to create a new file. This way, the formerly saved window positions will be lost (but you could save them again). Could you send us the window positions file ? Please use the "Get Technical Help" link for sending us an email. Best regards, Rudolf Honke
INCREIBLE...
This simple app saves me money on blood pressure pills. I am in multiple projects a day, and this allows me to save my standard view layout the first time I go into a project. From that point on, a quick click of the "Load" button has me up and productive in seconds. Thank you for this app.
Hello, This app is great, and so far the best way I found until now to work in 2 monitors. Still not perfect, but great. I would like to know if there is any way to assign a shortcut to this function. Before I was using all the time WT + ZA, palladio offers a better solution but is slower since there is not shortcut. Any idea to solve this? EDIT: Ok, now I know how to do it. In shortcuts menu just filter for Add-in Tab, there you will have all the options like "left:left, Left:Right" and so on, I assigned WWW to left:left, which is the one I am using all the time.
I get depressed every time a new version of Revit is released because there is no Palladio app to use. Revit 2018 on its own doesn't do it for me.
It needs the option to adjust ALL Revit windows vertically (not including those minimized)!
Save current windows positions is not working for me. Is there any issue with my system or what?
Applicazione molto utile
It does excactly what it says ... and saves time!!!!!! Just a brillant little app. Thanks a million !!!
Great, very useful for plumbing layout using multiple views. Can you make symbol for "add to quick access toolbar" please. Thanks from Australia
Dear Christopher, we think about it. Over the years, there have been many suggestions, e.g. defining not only a primary but also a secondary window. We are open for new ideas but we cannot say when and if we implement them (since each new feature may result in new support cases). Regards, Rudolf Honke
Great app, saves me time and helps me keep an overview of what I'm in the middle of doing so I don't get completely lost between all the half done jobs in different Views...
been using it for a while now... its good BUT, it only works for normal views... Sheet views do not work for some reason... which i mainly work with the view ports on my sheets... Pls fix that!!
Dear Yixuan Gao, thank you for the feedback. We have localized the bug and have fixed it in the latest version. Regards, Rudolf Honke
Very useful tool
Besides the great functionallity, if for some reason the add in does not work, check other software with "screen features". In my case TeamViewer blocked it, turned off the TeamViewer button, et voila.
Anyone trying to create LOD 400 models in Revit need this Add-in!!!!!!
Fantastic app, which is even better if you use the keyboard shortcuts suggested by Daniel Davies
Looking for this add-on for a long time and finally got it from here!
If you deploy this .msi installer in the usual way, i.e.. under Computer Configuration, it will seemingly install... but it won't work. I guess this must be a change to support Revit 2015, but this has to be deployed under User Configuration, as it installs into the users profile. I thought I would post this here to save anyone the time I have spent figuring this out.
Would you mind explaining this a little bit more? I tried to install it just by clicking on it and I got an error :(
Works perfect for me, saves alot of time with this addin.
I am constantly using this app, it's the first thing I install when I get a new Revit version!
I have used this app for at least a year and it's great! I recently upgraded to 2015 and installed the app, but it appears not to support 2015. When will an update be released? Thanks.
I can't believe how much my productivity has increased with this app. Managing multiple views is a snap. I put it on the quick access toolbar and when I want to change the view I'm working in I give it focus by clicking on it and then click on the Palladio icon and bingo, its in the big window and the other view is in the smaller one.
Just had a quick go using this app..........and it's brill! I've always got at least 3 windows tiled but am always irritated that I can't get the right window to be the largest one...this app is my new best friend. Nice work !!! So now of course we're gonna need an upgrade for 2015 - life just isn't the same without this great little app !
An answer to a problem that shouldn't exist in Revit. It does what is says on the tin. Great for organising views quickly on your screen. Should have multi-screen support.
Thanks a million ! It help me a lot. ^^
Weird doesn't work on my side ... W7 x64 on intel core i7 with nvidia quadro 600
Doesn't work on W7 x64, Building Design Suite
works exactely as described. However, it would be even better if it had options for multiple screens
W7 x64
Thanks!!!! Missed this!
Very usefull app quickly changing between levels, and also helps when rearranging schedules
@ Andrey Slyusarenko @ nate love @ Adriel Sim Please help us to solve the problem by contacting us: support@mum.de Thank you !
Doesn't work on W7 x64, Building Design Suite
Great tool provides speed to switch between windows, even faster with keyboard short cuts. Thanks for the improvement.
mine did not work. Do not know why. It installed successfully but does nothing when I try to reaarange windows
Thanks a million !
Wonderfull app
Does what is says it does!
just what i needed
good job I'll use it every day
Weird.. doesn't work for me.. am i doing something wrong? The installation was a success but when i click on any layout within Revit, the windows do not get rearranged.
You need to open the views and then click the icon that either shows Top, Bottom, Left, or Right. Doesn't work automatically as you open views.
very nice app.
We need more of this sort of simple improvement to the UI! I love it.
Assign your keyboard short cuts for this app to window tile Top = WTT, Left = WTL, Right = WTR, Bottom = WTB and your away. I have also assigned Bigger and smaller window to WT8 & WT2. Makes sense on a large keyboard with a numeric pad with up down arrows.
How can I assign these shortcuts?
... and saves time
Just a brillant little app. Thanks a million !
