Introducing the Centroid Calculator for Autodesk® Revit®, an add-in designed to transform how you calculate and draw centroids in your Revit projects. This unique tool sets itself apart by utilizing the power of reference planes—specifically X, Y, and Z planes—to provide users with flexibility, precision, and parametric control.

Key Features:

Multi-Element Support:

Effortlessly calculate and draw centroids for multiple elements by seamlessly determining the centroid of their union. This feature streamlines your workflow, saving valuable time, and ensures precision by providing a unified centroid representation for the selected elements.

Visibility Control in Exports:

Reference planes in Revit are, by default, excluded from image and PDF exports. When users generate images or export sheets to PDF, reference planes won't clutter the visual representation of the model. This exclusion ensures that the exported files maintain a clean and professional appearance, focusing on the essential elements of the design without unnecessary visual distractions.

Seamless Integration with Sheets:

Reference planes are also excluded from sheets by default. This is advantageous when preparing project documentation or presentation sheets. Users can confidently keep reference planes in the project for design and modeling purposes, knowing that they won't inadvertently appear on sheets, which are typically reserved for finalized and polished views.

Intuitive Selection Process:

Revit's feature that allows users to select reference planes by names enhances the selection process by making it more intuitive. Instead of relying solely on visual cues or generic identifiers, users can choose reference planes based on names that convey their purpose or significance in the design. This naming convention serves as a valuable aid, reducing the likelihood of errors in the selection process and improving overall efficiency.

Centroid Reference Planes as Mirroring Guides:

Reference planes play a crucial role as mirroring guides in Revit. When using the mirror tool to create a symmetrical copy of an element, the reference planes generated by this add-in serve as the axis or line about which the mirroring occurs.

This tool is the outcome of Dr. Georges Bedran's development efforts and the engineering contributions of Roman Pankanin.
