Descrição

If a Autodesk® 3ds Max® scene was created on some other machine, it is possible that traces of 3rd party plugins are left in the file that a different installation of 3ds Max cannot resolve. This results in a "missing plugins" error when opening the scene and, more problematic, prevents the scene from rendering, even if the missing parts have no contribution to the rendered image.

This tool scans your current scene for any instances of missing plugins and replaces them with the first possible match supported by your installation. Note that this match might not be what you want (e.g. you might end up with a scene effect, using default values, that could make your whole image blurry, for example), so ALWAYS check the result and save to a new filename!

Hey, awesome script. it replaced the missing plugin with the first available recognized script... which so happened to be atmosphere (i am guessing because it started with "a") it made the whole scene look like it was in a fog. hmmm can you make a way where it can show avaliable scripts to choose? or better pick a plugin that does not affect the scene? let me know. Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback. MAXScript has no way of knowing whether a plugin is a suitable replacement for what is missing, therefore the warning in the description. In general, any replacement made should be reviewed right afterwards and most likely be deleted anyway. I'll see whether I can make the replacement process a bit more transparent and verbose.

Why is this not included in 3ds Max by default? The same could be said for all of this publisher's tools. This script is one of the daily tools artists can use to quickly ingest and modify scene content or data that comes from any number of sources or 3ds Max versions. It's incredibly simple to use and importantly - reliable. Thanks for publishing this script.

  • Essential!

This plugin should absolutely be STANDARD issue with every version of 3DSMax going forward! It's honestly hard to believe Autodesk hasn't addressed this before, but luckily it has been now by another user. Given the prevalence of varying renderers that get embedded in many available stock 3D models, it is absolutely essential to be able to have a clean, problem-free scene, especially when network rendering. And obviously the solution has never been to export out the scene into 3DS or another "dumb" format, because then all sorts of important animation or other vital data gets stripped out as well. What has simply been needed for at least the last 10 years is what this plugin does. Searches you scene for only what is missing and purges that and that only from the file. Well done! As a full-time animation professional, this instantly became one of my standard utilities as soon as I used it.
