Description

This app allows you to more effectively and precisely use geometry imported from a mesh. Using this app you can cut sections through a mesh to create standard sketch geometry.

You can then use the sketch geometry to perform precise measurements and to do additional modeling.

  • Nice but redundant?

Thanks for the plugin. It works well, but I think it has been to some degree superseeded by the built-in ability to "create mesh section sketch"? This function also creates a sketch with the intersection, that you can then subsequently fit e.g. with a spline. It does, though, take bit more work, but you then also get better / simpler results. To inprove the current it would be smart if you could automatically make planes with well-defined spacing and in one go create sketches and sections.

BTW, why do you have to select the sketch, when you also have to have the sketch active to create the intersection?

    Adam Nagy (Editeur) | août 11, 2020

"why do you have to select the sketch" - it's an artefact from the previous behaviour of the API. When a command was started Fusion exited the Sketch environment and so the sketch needed to be selected, and the add-in did not get updated since.

  • Installation problem on MAC

On MacOS, after lauching the .pkg, accepted the licence and to install for myself... installation failed ... and I don't know why

    Adam Nagy (Editeur) | avril 06, 2020

I'm sorry you ran into that. Worst case you could move the content of the package to the correct place by hand: https://modthemachine.typepad.com/my_weblog/2018/04/the-installation-failed-for-app-store-plug-ins.html

    Pino Silvestri | avril 10, 2020

Hi, I also had the same problem, if you have not yet solved, answer me and I will show you how.

  • Works well

I used it to modify STL's from thingiverse

    Aw Smith | février 07, 2020

Could you share your workflow. I keep getting a error "No sketch selected" please select a sketch before running this command"

    Adam Nagy (Editeur) | février 14, 2020

Aw Smith, You have to select the sketch in the BROWSER palette before running the command. This is a redundant step (since you're already in the sketch) now since the command's button has been moved to the Sketch environment as a result of the new UI

  • Awesome works great.

    Awesome works great.

  • Installation Error

I'm getting an installation error when running the .pkg

Did you find the solution ?

  • Excellent

This is really neat and works well. The only improvement I can think of would be multi-select a bunch of skectches or planes.

    Isaac Lloyd | février 19, 2018

Couldn't you just hold down Ctrl/command?

  • Best fusion app ever!

Such a simple and great idea. All the time ive wasted trying to reverse engineer STLs by manually sketching them. Highly recommend!!!

  • Very useful

Exactly what I needed to get planar sections from mesh geometry, for use to create a model of the mesh. Thanks!

    Pavel Pavelka | novembre 02, 2017

Dear William, maybe you could help.... I have mesh geometry (decorative ornament) and need to give to it (looks like surface - but it is STL format ).... need change it to solid.... step/iges... is there any way how to do it in fusion 360 ? Many thanks for your time

  • Grab 2d geometry from STL

I needed to get 2D geometry from an STL. This plug-in worked great. Thanks!

  • Good Idea

Perfect for my workflow with prosthetics
