Description

When working out of a Autodesk® Navisworks® model while using Autodesk® AutoCAD® as your design software, Navis To Acad allows a user to instantly transfer geometry, points, and transformations from Navisworks to AutoCAD in real time.

Many times it becomes neccisary to reference geometry in a Navisworks model from a file that was not provided to you. With the Mesh->Acad functionality you can instantly transfer the selected geometry from Navisworks to the last active AutoCAD drawing as a block. You also have the option to export each selected object as seperate blocks, with or without the Navisworks properties written as attributes of those blocks.

Have you ever been working with a Navisworks model and had to reference a location in AutoCAD? A normal workflow would be to copy and paste the values from the Measure tools dockable panel one at a time. The Points->Acad tool allows you to instantly reference points used in the measurement tool into the last active AutoCAD dwg. Simply snap some points using the "Point to Point" measurement tool in Navisworks, then chose to reference the first point, second point, or both points in AutoCAD and spheres will be drawn at those points. You can also use the "Points->Acad" button in the ribbon.

Another feature of this app allows you to instantly apply move transformations to objects in AutoCAD. Once the objects are moved in Navisworks, right click on the still selected objects and select the "Transform->Acad" option. If the objects are found in any open drawing in AutoCAD, the transforms will be applied to them.

Pre-requisite: The AutoCAD product needs to be installed in your machine to transfer the points from Navisworks to AutoCAD.

Navis to Acad works seamlessly between the two applications by offering any CAD detailer the ability to bring into ACAD model space objects from NAVIS without the need to attach heavy reference files to the ACAD workspace.
The object is easily deleted when routing about it is finished and can be easily brought back in if needed again.

The Points to ACAD feature is perfect for bringing a pinpoint X,Y,Z location from Navis into ACAD. I've found this to be very handy when pinpointing an elevation or a connection point from within a federated building design model.

Since downloading the APP I no longer need to copy and paste or write coordinates for precision design and modeling efforts.

  • Super Useful!
    Ethan V | juillet 06, 2023

Wow, this tool is amazing! I can't begin to understand why Autodesk would choose to not support this functionality natively, it is an incredible time saver and very easy to use.

Big thanks to the developers supporting this. <3

  • A must have for Plant3D users.

I was looking for an app like this for month. Now we can quickly interact with every other colleague's work without losing days to export/import geometries. it changed the way i use plant 3D, my thanks to the developers.

  • 5 Ds of ACAD

Dodge, dip, dive, duck, and dodge what you see in Navis but can't in ACAD. Or hit it if you like. The choice is yours. Also lets you see locations to hit like tank POCs and floor penetrations. It's an unbelievable time saver. Save with the yearly plan.

  • I use this everyday
    James Frolov | juin 09, 2020

I use this on a daily basis. My productivity would be much less if I didnt have it. I dont think I could do without it.

  • Very Nice

    Very fast, and worked perfectly.

  • Creative tool providing visibility of BIM content from Navis to CAD model
    Phil Hudson | avril 14, 2020

I have used this add on for a year or so and loved the fluidity of bringing points and mesh solids from Navis into the working CAD model enhancing my visibility of BIM content in the working CAD model therefore enhancing my overall accuracy, therefore enhancing my overall productivity. It is Beautiful 🙏🏽

  • Revit plugin
    Stringham | mars 11, 2020

Can you write a plugin to export navisworks geometry to Revit? I think there is a huge market for it. awesome plugin btw

    Skylar Daniels (Editeur) | mars 11, 2020

Dan, Thank you for your Review. Coincidentally, we have been working on a tool to export points and geometry from Navisworks to Revit. It is ready for release now and is currently going through the app store review. It should be available on the Autodesk App store within a week or two.

  • A great application
    Ryan Bishop | septembre 14, 2019 Téléchargement vérifié (Qu'est-ce que c'est?)

This application makes working between Navisworks and AutoCAD quicker and more efficient. No more arduous copying and pasting from the 'measure tool pane' in Navisworks to AutoCAD. This tool makes it as easy as 1,2,3. Click the desired point in Navis, click the application button, and click into AutoCAD. And your done. A huge savings for a repetetive and necessary task. Well worth the price.

  • I use this all the time at work
    Donovan Kessler | juillet 17, 2019 Téléchargement vérifié (Qu'est-ce que c'est?)

I use this add on all the time at work and it has definately helped improve my performance.

Now that I have it installed, I cannot live without it.

  • Must have for model coordination.
    Ryan Witt | décembre 12, 2018 Téléchargement vérifié (Qu'est-ce que c'est?)

We have this installed on every modeling station in our office.  Highly recommended.
